Dedicated computers, and XBMCs interface is still far superior for home/same LAN use in my opinion.PlexBMC is a collection of addons which integrates an XBMC frontend with a Plex Media Server backend. I personally see this being the best feature the chromecast brings, the ability to stream remotely to a TV with no additional 'set top box' and for only $35. I do have chromecasts at a few family members and friends houses so they can stream my library through it. I have a chromecast at home, which I pretty much never use unless I want that 'geeky cool' feeling of playing 1080p content through a $35 device. I just prefer using 'direct play' wherever I can, and dedicated computers will offer a higher quality playback over chromecast with much less stress on the server.

I believe there is a plugin for Plex to use the tuner, but I havent messed with it. I still prefer XBMC at home, the main reason being I use it with the HDHomerun tuner for my live tv. I already have small/cheap computers at each TV, as well as already had a central server (which runs PLEX along with many other things).
